Guest – Stormey Denise Burroughs
Program: Avoiding an Itsy-Bitsy Life
Stormey Denise Burroughs, works as
a Foster Care Specialist for the Michigan Department of Human Services.
She holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Ferris State University
in Big Rapids, Michigan. She was trained for world mission service
through the Christian organization "Every People Tribe and Nation." She
completed her first mission trip to Trinidad in 2002.
In 2003, she became a home provider for Holy Cross Children Services,
which granted her an opportunity of a lifetime. She opened her home to
two teen refugees from Rwanda – Ives and Diane – whose parents were
killed in the Rwandan genocide. After, purchasing her first home in
2007, she opened her doors and heart again to receive Lian, Sai-Sai,
Amoung, and Tong-Tong- four refugees boys from Myanmar.
Ms. Burroughs is the founder and board member of Building Bridges
International, a non-profit organization whose mission is focus on
strengthening at-risk families and advocating against child trafficking.
Ms. Burroughs, lives in Southfield, Michigan. She enjoys cooking,
traveling and spending time with her family and friends and is a
faithful member of Detroit World Outreach. |
